With all the Christmas parties, family get togethers and Christmas markets, it can be easy to neglect your oral health. Taking care of your teeth this time of year is just as important as any other time of the year.
Here are a few tips from Hello Dental, Colchester to avoid any dental issues in the New Year.
How to Care For Your Teeth This Christmas:
1)Brush your teeth at least twice a day
To maintain good oral health it is recommended you brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes. it is easy to forget this time of year with how busy and hectic life gets but plaque is the primary cause of gum disease so it is important we remove it.
At Hello Dental we recommend using an electric toothbrush twice daily, using a fluoride toothpaste and alongside interdental cleaning. Remember, when eating sweet treats it is advised to wait at least half an hour to ensure you’re not brushing away softer enamel.
2) Consume sugary food and drinks in Moderation
Were not trying to be grinches and advise you not to have any sweet treats or beverages, however, consuming high sugar food and drink without meticulous cleaning is the leading cause of tooth decay.
3) Put an electric toothbrush on your Christmas list
We recommend the Oral B range of toothbrushes, there are so many to choose from, if you’re confused about which one to purchase you can ask for our advice at any time.
4) Schedule your routine visits for the New Year
Make sure to schedule your dental visits for the new year, so we can monitor your teeth and provide advice on how to care for them. We recommend that you visit your dentist twice a year and have at least two hygienists visits annually.
