If you are an adult with crooked teeth, you may be wondering how you can achieve a beautiful smile. While traditional braces are effective in aligning crooked teeth and correcting bite problems, most adults are not excited at the prospect of wearing metal brackets and wires.
Luckily, at Hello Dental we offer an alternative method to straighten your teeth without braces in Colchester. Smilelign is an innovative teeth straightening treatment that is practically invisible, so people won’t even know you are having your teeth straightened.
Smilelign consists of a series of clear, removable, plastic aligners that are customised to fit snugly over your teeth. The aligners are created with the help of digital technology and need to be changed every 2—4 weeks. The process can take as little as 10 weeks, depending on the alterations required. Each aligner is carefully designed for your teeth and will gradually move them into their correct position over a specific period of time.
Unlike regular braces, Smilelign aligners do not require frequent adjustments by your dentist. Once your teeth are aligned, we will cement a permanent retainer to prevent them moving back to their old position. You will also need to wear a clear retainer; initially full-time and later for a few hours during the night.
Smilelign aligners are almost invisible. They are also very lightweight and comfortable to wear without sharp edges. By wearing them you can undertake your usual activities without any problem or disruption. Moreover, the aligners can be removed for a short space of time (2—4 hours in the day) for eating or brushing your teeth.
If you can have regular braces, chances are that you can also have treatment with Smilelign. With the exception of children and young teenagers whose teeth have not properly developed, older teenagers and adults of any age can straighten their teeth with Smilelign aligners. However, if your teeth are severely misaligned or you experience serious jaw problems, then your dentist may recommend regular braces instead.
