Understand that young mouths are more adaptable to change. This means that if you are an adult, you may find that it will take longer for your smile to be corrected. There is no chance for teeth to naturally move into their correct alignment over time. In fact, the position of your teeth are more likely to get worse with age.
Once you accept that realigning your teeth is beneficial for your confidence and your health, you can move toward a healthier and happier you.
If we discover that something is not quite right with the alignment of your or your child’s teeth or jaws, we may be able to significantly reduce the amount of time needed in order to rectify it. With this in mind, remember to frequently bring your child to a dentist in order to monitor the alignment of teeth and jaws, and their oral health.
What kinds of models are available?
It really depends on your personal situation as to which model will be best suited to correct your misaligned teeth. Traditional devices are frequently used in complex cases as a dentist has more control over the manipulation of your teeth.
If your dentist has recommended the traditional fixed option, then lingual braces in Colchester may also be an option. These attach to the back of your teeth, rendering them invisible when you smile. However, they are only available in certain circumstances and it is best to discuss your options with your dentist.
You may even be suitable for removable aligners. These can be taken out while eating, or when you brush your teeth, and are not so intrusive on your day to day activities. You do need to wear them for a minimum of twenty hours each day, but on the odd special occasion you can remove them.
